
Did you guess it? It’s reading & something that I love to do but also struggle with.
In my mind, reading takes a lot of effort as you need to sit in quiet at a time that you have nothing else to do and clear your mind completely, focusing only on what is arising from the pages between your fingers. But the beauty of it makes me go back to it again and again, even with these same thoughts.
I have created a habit tracker which does exactly what it says on the tin. It allows me to track the habits that I want to create – and stick to – each day with the goal of being a better person and having a better life.
One of the habits that I have decided to track this year is my reading. I am aiming for at least some reading each day. I fear that if I force myself to read 10 pages or a chapter then I will give up and feel like a failure. If, however, I say I will read a couple of pages, I am much more likely to want to read more. Over the years, I have been an avid book collector. Yes, collector. I collect the books, only for them to sit on my bookshelf and never be read. SO, 2024 is the year this stops. I am going to read every week night at least and hope I can get through some of my books.
To keep me accountable and let you know about the books I’m reading (you may well have fallen under the influence of TikTokers and bought the same books too) to see if they are worth the read.
